United Medical Center (formerly known as Greater Southeast Community Hospital)
is a 184-bed, community-based hospital with a commitment to the treatment and care
of patients in Washington, DC and the surrounding area. Founded in 1966, United Medical Center is located in the far southeast corner of Washington DC and is the
District's only hospital east of the Anacostia River, sitting on the border between
Ward 8 and Maryland’s Prince George’s County. Through extensive community
outreach programs and expanding services, the hospital strives to be a center of excellence by providing a complete continuum of care to meet the changing needs
of its patient population.
Most major specialties are represented at this facility, including Family Practice, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics & Gynecology, Cardiology. The hospital also provides services in Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care, Oncology, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pain Management, Radiology and Occupational & Speech Therapies, among others.

Emergency Medicine Services
• 35,000 annual patient visits
• 20 ED beds
• 5 Fast Track beds in a designated area
• 36 hours of Emergency Medicine physician coverage in 12-hour shifts
• 20-32 hours of overlapping mid-level provider coverage daily in 10 & 12-hour shifts
Physician Credentials Required:
• Board Certified or Prepared in EM, FP or IM by the ABMS
• Current ACLS, ATLS & PALS Certifications
Mid-Level Provider Credentials Required:
• National PA or NP certification
• Current ACLS & PALS Certifications
