EDCARE ACQUIRES UNITED EMERGENCY SERVICES
Acquisition Increases Patient Count
to more than 1.5 Million Annually
EDCare Management, Inc., the fastest growing national provider of emergency department management and physician staffing services in the United States, has acquired United Emergency Services, Inc. (UES), a direct competitor. Since the acquisition in August of 2006, EDCare has worked to integrate UES into the company's unique medical services program. Based in North Carolina, UES was a provider of medical care to approximately 500,000 patients annually in eight states throughout the Southeast.
"With this acquisition, EDCare now serves 1.5 million patients per year at more than 80 locations in 15 states," said Jeffrey Schillinger, president of EDCare. "It has always been our goal to provide the highest level of care to patients in our client hospitals. We are very optimistic about delivering our brand of service to the clients that UES brings to EDCare, as well as the ability to further leverage our existing capabilities and customer base. On behalf of the entire EDCare organization, I enthusiastically welcome the UES team on board."
The acquisition dramatically enhances EDCare's position as a leader in emergency department management and physician staffing services by expanding into states and hospital organizations the company had not previously served. This also represents a significant step in EDCare's strategy to increase profit margins by reducing expenses through economies of scale.
EDCare now has more than 200 employees and manages a professional medical staff of 1,000, including independently contracted physicians and mid-level providers such as nurse practitioners and physician assistants. |
